Message from the CSuO

We will practice sustainable management and
demonstrate the DJK Group’s purpose.

We are living today amidst much uncertainty, in particular the rapid increase in environmental problems caused by climate change, the depletion of global resources, and instability of ecosystems. Companies must take measures to address these challenges that take the circumstances of individual countries into consideration. In addition, given our responsibility for the economic activities that underpin the foundations of people’s daily lives, companies must take the lead in finding solutions and avoiding these pressing crises. Otherwise, we will be unable to leave an abundant and comfortable living for future generations.

As a general machinery trading firm, the Daiichi Jitsugyo Group has declared “Connecting People, Connecting Technology and Enriching the World,” as the mission to be fulfilled by our corporate philosophy, and we have placed our vision of being a next-generation engineering trading firm at the center of our pursuit of that mission. To achieve this, we have set trust, growth, and contribution as the elements of our value.

This philosophy shares the same intent as our sustainability philosophy. Under this corporate philosophy, if the DJK Group is to stay true to its purpose as a presence that is needed by society, our only option is to practice sustainable management. To this end, in fiscal 2022, we established the Sustainability Promotion Committee, chaired by the Representative Director, President & CEO, and renamed it the Sustainability Committee in fiscal 2023. We also set up the Corporate Sustainability Department to promote our initiatives, and selected its core members from across the Company for greater agility. Furthermore, we formulated our Basic Philosophy on Sustainability, identified our materialities, endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), developed a new, proprietary format for operating our environmental management system (EMS), and took other measures to lay the groundwork for sustainable management. We will now accelerate company-wide efforts in all of our business activities.

One of the most important corporate foundations that support our business is human capital. Our approach on human resource training is “the development of people and organizations that possess both the agility and strength to enable them to respond flexibly to changes in the environment.” This approach extols autonomy and self-direction, and we use employee engagement surveys, self-declaration schemes, and other means to actively develop our training environment. In the areas of securing, retaining, and training our personnel, based on diversity, equity & inclusion, we continuously review all aspects from our hiring practices through to our employees’ career development after they are hired. Our aims are to provide support for the sustainable growth of individuals and the invigoration of the organization through flexible work styles that suit different life stages.

In terms of human rights issues, we support the internationally advocated guiding principles on human rights. The DJK Group operates a global business, and as such, we will strengthen transactions that are more considerate than ever of the environment and human rights.

This year, the DJK Group marked the 75th anniversary of its foundation. Our unwavering purpose is to stay close to people on the frontline, working earnestly to solve our customers’ issues together with our partners. We have a corporate culture of boldly taking on challenges without being deterred by our own transformation. With that DNA, we will strive to contribute even more to the solutions to issues on a global scale.
