Shojiro Kuramochi Founding President
The Founding Spirit and Corporate Principles embody the management philosophy of Shojiro Kuramochi, our first president. These principles have been consistently passed down through our corporate culture from our founding to the present day.
Business Policy at Founding
Following the end of World War II, Japan’s zaibatsu conglomerates, which had monopolized various industrial sectors, were dismantled, and market-based competition was introduced. Among those involved in the former Asano Zaibatsu were individuals who would go on to become the founding members of what is now DAIICHI JITSUGYO CO., LTD.
On August 12, 1948, seven individuals, including Shojiro Kuramochi—who would later become the company’s first president—founded the company. It was named Daiichi Jitsugyo and launched its operations as a trading company specializing in industrial machinery.
Kuramochi strictly prohibited any black market dealings that were prevalent at the time and thoroughly implemented the following principles:
- Engage exclusively in the buying and selling of machinery
- Do business only with major and reputable companies
- Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with banks
By steadily pursuing non-speculative business, carefully selecting trustworthy partners, and reporting monthly performance to banks, DJK built a reputation as a sincere and reliable enterprise, achieving stable and continuous growth.
This spirit has been firmly rooted in our corporate culture since the company’s founding.
