Daiichi Jitsugyo Participates in Hydrogen-Fueled Aluminum Melting Demonstration Project ~Supporting the Relocation and Commissioning of High-Efficiency Furnaces to Advance Carbon-Neutral Manufacturing~

Daiichi Jitsugyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & COO: Yuji Funawatari, hereinafter “DJK”) is pleased to announce that it has completed the construction work for a demonstration project utilizing hydrogen fuel for aluminum melting at DENSO HARYANA PVT. LTD. (Haryana, India; hereinafter “DENSO HARYANA”).

This project qualifies for the Fiscal Year 2023 Supplementary Budget Global South Future-Oriented Co-creation Project Subsidy (Overseas Infrastructure Development Promotion Survey) implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, with DENSO Corporation (Kariya, Aichi; hereinafter “DENSO”) selected as the subsidy recipient. The project focuses on verifying hydrogen combustion-based aluminum melting and vacuum low-pressure die-casting technologies to achieve carbon neutrality in the production of high-precision, large-scale aluminum die-cast parts, which are essential for the performance of electric vehicle (EV) power units and motors.

Although DJK is not the subsidy recipient, based on subcontracting agreements with DENSO, DJK has completed the modification of DENSO's aluminum melting and holding furnace manufactured by Miyamoto Kogyosho Co., Ltd. for hydrogen fuel adaptation and the relocation of the die-casting line including the furnace to DENSO HARYANA. Following the completion of the on-site relocation work, DAIICHI JITSUGYO INDIA PVT. LTD., a group company of DJK, is concurrently implementing the construction of a hydrogen supply station and utility work for the die-casting line at the site based on construction and facility work contracts with DENSO HARYANA.

Through this project, DJK aims to contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions in the automotive component manufacturing process and support the realization of a decarbonized society. As a "Next-Generation Engineering Trading Firm," DJK is committed to embodying its materiality of "Fostering New Value Creation within Manufacturing Operations" and will support the safe and smooth operation of the equipment, while continuing to contribute to international carbon-neutral initiatives and advancing efforts toward building a sustainable mobility society.
